NGC 6960
The Veil Nebula is a remnant of a supernova which occurred approximately 10,000 years ago. the nebulosity in the top half of the image is NGC 6960, sometimes referred to as the Witch's Broom. The nebulosity in the lower half is actually the south part of Fleming's (Pickering's) Triangle or Simeis 3-188. This image is only a small portion of the Veil Nebula. The shock wave formed as a result of the supernova continues to sculpt the Cygnus Loop.
I have imaged this area in the past with different telescopes. In my opinion the Veil Nebula is one of the most beautiful areas of the night sky.
