IC1871

A smallish but stunning emission nebula, IC1871, is located within the more well-known Soul Nebula.  Rolling clouds of ionized hydrogen, oxygen, sulfur and dust have created the spectacular features that define this nebula.  The small very dark feature near the top of this image is a Bok Globule.

I imaged this nebula a few years ago but decided to try it again with a different telescope.  I also used different techniques during post processing which, I think, resulted in a better image.

This version is done in the modified Hubble palette.
