NGC 6992


The Veil Nebula is comprised of three main elements - the Eastern Veil (shown above), the Western Veil and Pickering's Triangle. It is the remnant of a supernova explosion and is one of the most beautiful objects in the night sky. Visual observers may have difficulty seeing the detail unless they use an oxygen III filter.

 

This image was taken through a hydrogen alpha filter.
