On November 16, 2025 I trained my telescope and camera on asteroid (1) Ceres. In this image the stars are stationary while Ceres slowly moves through the constellation Cetus. 1 Ceres
is the largest body in the asteroid belt, a rocky, icy body classified as both an asteroid AND a dwarf planet. It is about 590 miles in diameter and resides in the main asteroid belt
between Mars and Jupiter. It is also the first asteroid discovered, by Giuseppe Piazzi in 1801 and later designated 1 Ceres. NASA has a great article about Ceres.
I used my Esprit 120 telescope and ASI2600mc camera, taking 25 two minutes exposures then stitching them together.
